  • Virtual neurology clinic Neura Health has raised $8M in seed funding to expand its go-to-market approach and bring its neurology care offerings to the enterprise sector.
  • Intrinsic Added $15M to Build a Next-Gen Women’s Health Platform Business. Intrinsic first launched in January 2021 with $113M in funding and the vision to build a “next-gen consumer health business”.
  • Kallyope Received $8.3M from the Gates Foundation to Identify Novel Interventions for Undernourished Infants and Pregnant Women.

FemTech News:

  • Women are hiding their menopause symptoms to avoid discrimination in the workplace, new research has found, with nearly half of female employees fearing that menopause would affect their careers. Read more here.

  • Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) inaugurated telemedicine clinics in Odisha. A total of 5 telemedicine clinics are now operational in the state. The telemedicine clinics are an extension of HMIF’s social outreach initiative ‘Sparsh Sanjeevani’ that emphasizes making quality and affordable medical services accessible to rural India through technology.
  • Allo Health, India’s leading digital health clinic dedicated to sexual wellness, has announced the opening of their first physical clinics in Bangalore and Delhi. This development marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to make sexual healthcare more accessible and to normalise sexual wellness conversations in India. The new clinics are the first of many, with Allo Health planning to open 50 more across the country within the next year. Over 200 million people in India suffer from symptoms of at least one sexual disorder, often silently due to societal stigma and a lack of effective resources.
  • Feminine health and hygiene company, Sirona | Good Glamm Group, has recently made a significant acquisition by purchasing the sexual wellness brand, Bleu. The deal, which was conducted entirely in cash, was confirmed by Deep Bajaj, the founder of Sirona and supported by Good Glamm Group.

  • A new partnership between AIVF and Genea Biomedx aims to enhance the efficiency and success rates of IVF clinics worldwide. By integrating AIVF’s AI platform with Genea Biomedx’s time-lapse incubator, the partnership offers personalized and optimized IVF care. The solution reduces costs for patients and improves clinic revenues by increasing efficiency and patient access.
  • Parsley Health has launched a new program that focuses on providing comprehensive care for working women with complex and chronic health concerns. The program aims to deliver exceptional health outcomes by addressing a wide range of medical conditions, including autoimmune, gastrointestinal, cardiometabolic, behavioral health, and hormonal conditions
  • Future Fertility and GeneraLife will be collaborating on a multi-centre research study in Spain that will leverage Future Fertility’s AI-powered oocyte assessment tools to measure the quality of donor eggs and determine feasibility for this clinical use case.
  • The UK-based women’s health platform The Female Curve has launched a new treatment programme to support women with PCOS.The PCOS treatment programme is a minimum of 12 weeks and aims to help women take control of their health through lifestyle interventions and one-to-one coaching.

  • AlzeCure Pharma AB (publ), a pharmaceutical company that develops candidate drugs for CNS diseases, focusing on Alzheimer’s disease and pain, announced that the European Patent Office (EPO) has granted a patent covering the company’s candidate drug ACD856, which is developed against Alzheimer’s disease and other disorders with cognitive impairment.
  • Lifespin GmbH, a start-up medical diagnostics company with offices in Regensburg (Germany) and Boston (MA), announced that it has launched Lifespin Amino Acid Profiler (LAAP) – its first commercial product for use in the regulated diagnostics field. Utilizing its proprietary AI-driven technology, Lifespin LAAP analyzes variations in patients’ metabolism to provide clinicians with deep insights into patients’ health and wellbeing.

Government News:

  • Union health minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has proposed a Global Medical Countermeasures Platform with distributed manufacturing and R&D through regional networks and the Global Initiative for Digital Health. He was addressing the 76th session of the World Health Assembly centered on the theme of ‘Health for All’ in the presence of Dr. Tedros, Director General, World Health Organization and health ministers from across the world.
  • The Jan Aushadhi Kendras under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) scheme has sold medicines and surgical devices worth Rs. 95.89 crore during the month of April, resulting in savings to the common man at around Rs. 575 crore, according to the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP). During the month of April, a total of 43 more PMBJP Kendras started operations and the total number of Kendras by the end of the month stood at 9,341, said the Department. A total of 1,800 medicines and 285 surgical devices are available in its product basket and the products are offered at an affordable price to the customers.
  • The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited comments on a draft Policy on Research Infrastructure Sharing Ecosystem to give access to facilities for research in select ICMR labs.The Union Budget of India 2023-24 had announced that, ‘the facilities in select ICMR labs will be made available for research by public and private medical college faculty and private sector R&D teams for encouraging collaborative research and innovation”.

  • Women suffering with endometriosis or uterine fibroids are more likely to consider quitting work or school, a new study has found. The survey, published by Evidation and Myovant Sciences, has explored the lived experiences of individuals with endometriosisand/or uterine fibroids, showing the “real” impact the two conditions can have on performance at work and school.
  • The new breast cancer screening guidelines which lower the recommended age for mammograms from 50 to 40 could give a “significant” boost to the mammography equipment market, analysts have said. The guidelines, are likely to contribute to the stable growth of the mammography equipment market, the data and analytics company GlobalData has found.
  • Driven by the latest trends of test costs coming down and being affordable to the middle class and above, the Indian genomic market in the country is expected grow at 18 per cent, in tandem with the global genomics market growth in the next five years, according to leading consulting firm Nomura Research Institute (NRI) Consulting and Solutions India. The entry of Reliance Life Sciences into the segment through acquisition of a majority stake in Strand Life Sciences and the latter’s recent announcement of launching a cost-effective genomic kit would bring down the costs significantly and help more adaptation of the technology across the country.
