Dave Esra, the founder – CEO, comes with a repertoire of diverse experience. From being in the Army to have been an Emergency Medical Technician, he has done it all. A man with multiple talents, here’s what he has to say on how he started his professional career:
“Early in my career, I served as an Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter, and US Army Officer. This diverse experience instilled in me a strong sense of duty and leadership, guiding my path ever since.
During my time in the US Army, I held various senior executive roles and led two Army units. This provided me with valuable experience in strategic leadership and project management. I’m proud to have been recognized with awards such as the US Army General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award and the German Bronze Cross of Honor, highlighting my dedication to excellence and service.
Outside of the military, I’ve worked as a consultant for Fortune 50 companies and startups. Ihold a Master’s of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University and have pursued further education in Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing from institutions like MIT and the University of Texas, Austin.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I’m passionate about wellness and athleticism, having completed multiple marathons and triathlons. My journey has been defined by a commitment to continual learning, innovation, and making a positive impact in all aspects of my life.”
How it started, and how is it going now?

“My journey into FemTech started at Pregistry, where I saw the urgent need for better pregnancy health tech. As CEO of Bobi, Inc., I’m on a mission to transform pregnancy monitoring and support, driven by my passion to improve health outcomes for moms and babies.
The FemTech industry offers big opportunities, but it’s not easy. Getting funding to grow has been tough, especially with biases against women-focused companies in investment circles. Despite these challenges, our team’s dedication and the importance of our mission keep us moving forward.
Our journey shows the power of teamwork, resilience, and staying true to our vision. Together, we’re shaking up healthcare and fighting for inclusivity and fairness in women’s wellness.
As for Bobi, Inc, our journey began in October 2023, and we officially became a company in May 2023. Along the way, we faced many challenges, like protecting our ideas and dealing with complicated legal stuff.
One big challenge in FemTech is the politicization of pregnancy, particularly in the US. Safeguarding sensitive personal data from potential exploitation by malicious actors has been a paramount concern, underscoring the importance of our robust MLOps systems in ensuring digital security and privacy.
Even with all these challenges, we’re still focused on improving women’s health. By using fancy technology and encouraging new ideas, we’re breaking down barriers and making sure everyone gets the healthcare they need.”
At the heart of FemTech:
The #FemTech movement means a lot to me because I truly believe in equality and empowerment. Seeing the struggles women face worldwide has made me determined to make a difference and break down barriers to access and opportunity.
Empowering women through technology isn’t just something I do for work—it’s something I feel morally obligated to do. By focusing on women’s health and well-being, we’re not only giving women more control over their lives but also working towards a fairer and more equal world for everyone, now and in the future.
