  • CrisprBits raised 250,000 USD in Pre-seed funding from US-based VJ Group. Founded by Dr. Vijay Chandru, Sunil Arora, Dr. Rajeev Kohli, Bharat Jobanputra, and Aditya Sarda in 2020, CrisprBits was started with a vision of developing high-quality healthcare solutions in diagnostics and gene editing
  • AI enabled mental health & holistic wellness platform United We Care has recently secured $1.5 million in seed funding led by marquee investors. Currently the company has operations in India, Singapore and US and has been enabling and delivering complex interventions across cognitive, physiological and behavioural frameworks

Global Funding:

  • Natural Cycles, a women’s health company known for its basal temperature-based birth control app, has received $ 7 million from Samsung Ventures to intensify its AI/ML efforts and hardware development. 
  • Twentyeight Health, a telehealth company providing affordable access and convenience for reproductive and sexual health, announced that it has raised $8.3 million in Pre-Series A funding.
  • Menopause activist and podcaster Rachel Lankester has launched an educational forum to support women and de-stigmatise menopause. MenoClarity aims to provide women with clarity, balance and trustworthy information around menopause and highlight research and “evidence-based” information.

  • The Supreme Court will hear on February 24 a plea seeking menstrual leave for all working women and female students across India. The plea filed by Advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi was mentioned before the bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha.Tripathi in his plea has stated that menstrual periods have been largely disregarded by society, the government and other stakeholders, but some organizations and state governments have taken notice.

Global News:

  • The pandemic took a harsh toll on U.S. teen girls’ mental health, with almost 60% reporting feelings of persistent sadness or hopelessness, according to a government survey released. Sexual violence, suicidal thoughts, suicidal behaviour and other mental health woes affected many teens regardless of race or ethnicity, but girls and LGBTQ youth fared the worst on most measures, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.

Government News:

  • Dr Vinod Kotwal, Member Secretary, National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA) has urged the Indian pharmaceutical companies to register in Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS 2.0) for making a robust database of companies and expediting the process of regulatory approvals for drug manufacturing in India.

  • Grant Thornton Bharat and Association of Healthcare Providers (India) (AHPI) study shows 84% healthcare facilities likely to increase budget on digital solutions. This is because healthcare providers are working to bring in operational efficiencies, enhance service delivery and improve health outcomes, technology is finding greater application across the value chain.

  • A recent study led by Dr. Susmita Chatterjee from The George Institute of Global Health, India, has shed light on the long-term economic impact of TB on patients, even a year after the end of treatment.The study has also shown that India still has a long way to go to reach the goal of zero catastrophic costs for all patient groups, as stated in the END TB Strategy.
  • The global digital health market size will expand around USD 1,694.21 billion by 2032 from accounted for USD 332.53 billion in 2022, growing at a registered CAGR of 19.2% from 2022 to 2030, according to new study by Precedence Research.
