We’re now accepting applications for our 6-week immersion starting in August. In this 6-week program, we work with selected founders to turbocharge their business strategies, with a special focus on market access, research, GTM,regulatory and addressing key challenges and opportunities in women’s health in India. During the sixth week, founders will pitch their business ideas to investors.

💰Funding In India: FemTech, Wellness, and Fitness

  • Foxtale, a D2C skincare brand, has raised $18 million in its Series B funding round led by Singapore-based Panthera GrowPartners. The round also saw participation from the company’s existing investors, including Matrix Partners India and Kae Capital.
  • Kerala-based Sabine Hospital and Research Centre secured $50 million in funding from private equity firm CX Partners. The company envisions making high-end fertility, birthing and neonatal care affordable and accessible to the most remote towns in India.

🌎💸  Global Funding

  • Arya, a NYC-based provider of a holistic sexual wellness platform, raised $7.5M in Seed funding.The round was led by Patron and Play Ventures, with participation from At.inc/, Heracles Capital, Neil Parick, Harpreet Rai, Yasmin Lukatz and Naama Breckler,
  • Real World Health, a London, UK-based healthcare data analytics company, raised ÂŁ1.7M in Series A funding.The round was led by Maven Capital Partners with participation from Dowgate Capital.The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.
  • Adcytherix, a Marseille, France-based biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of novel antibody drug conjugates (ADC), raised €30M in Seed funding.The round was led by Pontifax with participation from Pureos Bioventures, RA Capital Management, Dawn Biopharma (a platform controlled by KKR) and the management of the company.

📢 NEWS:

  • A new US study has revealed the effects obesity and metabolic syndrome can have on breast cancer. Both obesity and metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions like high blood pressure and high blood sugar, increase the risk of breast cancer, but in differing ways for different subtypes of the cancer.
  • Women who deliver low-birth-weight babies could be more likely to have memory and thinking problems later in life, a new study warns. As seniors, these women had brain test scores that indicated one to two years of additional aging in their memory and thinking skills, compared with women who delivered normal-weight babies, according to results published June 12 in the journal Neurology.
  • Bipolar disorder doesn’t have to be a lifelong challenge, a new study says.Nearly 1 in 4 people with bipolar disorder wind up achieving complete mental health, researchers found. Further, more than 2 in 5 become free from bipolar symptoms over time, results show.
  • Extreme heat spurs eye stroke cases: Symptoms, risk factors and precautions.In extreme cases, an eye strike can cause sudden loss of vision. The intense heat conditions in many parts of the country have increased the number of not just heat strokes, but also eye strokes.
  • Dads appear to make a small but important contribution to a newborn baby’s gut health, a new study discovers. Many microbes found in babies throughout their first year of life originate in the father rather than the mother, researchers report June 12 in the journal Cell Host & Microbe.

  • Nearly 1 in every 6 U.S. adults have engaged in the ancient practice of yoga over the past year, new government data shows.
  • Fortis Memorial Research has launched the Gamma Knife Esprit. This Leksell Gamma Knife according to the hospital is South Asia’s first and heralds a new era in the non-surgical high precision treatment of brain tumours, enhancing therapeutic options for both malignant, benign brain tumours and other abnormalities of brain.

  • Niramai has been selected for the MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific 2024 Accelerator Cohort Program.
  • Newmi care in collaboration with Sirona was included as part of Flipkart’s Flexben Wellness Carnival where they conducted quizzes and games to increase awareness on Health and Wellness
  • Rocket Health released a video titled “Are Indians Afraid to be Single” and covered the aspects of FOMO and the cultural and social aspects of being single.

  • The healthcare company ProgenyHealth has expanded its partnership with the women’s health solutions company Wildflower Health to improve maternal health outcomes. The collaboration aims to break down “existing silos” and help health plans move faster to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
  • Wisp, a company working in sexual and reproductive health, has taken a step forward by launching a new fertility vertical aimed at supporting women through every stage of their reproductive health journey.
  • Playground, a sexual wellness brand co-founded by Christina Aguilera, has announced a partnership with the Center for Intimacy Justice as part of its mission to destigmatize discussions about sexuality and promote better sexual health for women.
  • Elekta Versa HD, a cutting-edge radiation therapy system that is revolutionizing the treatment of brain tumours. This state-of-the-art machine is redefining precision and offering new hope to patients battling either benign or malignant tumours.

🇮🇳 Government News

  • Japan and India are now working to strengthen collaboration with innovative concepts for developing medical devices from start-ups of both the countries. This according to them would lead to significant advancements and mutually beneficial outcomes in patient care.
  • The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) recently unveiled a comprehensive immunization schedule for women that provides a comprehensive list of essential vaccines that adult women should receive, and the recommended frequency of each vaccine. FOGSI and MSD Pharma have collaborated to raise awareness about women’s immunization and help prevent vaccine-preventable diseases in women across India.
  • The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) has launched a pilot project to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a growing global health threat. This initiative aims to empower and equip the state’s 30,000 drug retailers to raise awareness among patients and consumers.
